Database Systems
The Infoskill team has an in-depth knowledge of database systems and worked with both commercial and open source databases. Among these are Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2/UDB, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Cloudscape. Our team has a strong background and distinct experience in designing, implementing, and managing large enterprise databases from hierarchical to relational databases.
Our strong background on traditional file systems and hierarchical database systems has gained us a strategic position to take advantage of relational database technologies over the years.
Some of our senior managers have been involved in developing relational database systems earlier in their career. As a result, we have an excellent understanding of IBM’s DB2, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
The Infoskill team is also involved in developing applications for MySQL database with JSP front-end, and also worked on both PostgreSQL and Cloudscape.
The data warehouse and data mart technologies are among the skill set of our team members to solve business problems through discovery of information and insight within data. We certainly believe that mining the data to identify key factors will positively impact today’s dynamic business environment by crystallizing the markets and dynamics that affect these markets.
We, at Infoskill, worked with ETL tools for some of our clients. First generation tools approach ETL primarily from a Business Intelligence view. Second generation tools enhance first generation tools by using a data warehouse for dimensional analysis to provide a better ROI. With third generation ETL products, data is transformed on the target after being loaded.
Considering the drive towards real-time application and data integration, our methodology for interface-level integration is web-based with rich functionality available in Microsoft SQL Server with integrated data transformational services, Ascential Software Corp, Hummingbird, Data Mirror, Ambeo, Avaki, Cosort, Astute, ETI, Decision Support, Group1.
Infoskill has completed a project to implement a data sharing project for Canada Life to shift the vertical growth of DB2 databases to horizontal when the ceiling for the processor capacity was reached at the time. The project has brought in both financial advantages while relieving the technology constraints that was thought
to be hard to overcome by many others.
